
Irina Nakhova is a visual artist known for her paintings and interactive installations that incorporate various media including painting, digital printing, sculpture, video and audio.
Born in the USSR in 1955, Nakhova graduated from the Moscow Institute of Graphic Arts in 1978. She was recognized for her Room installations in her Moscow apartment during the 1980’s.
Since 1989, Nakhova has lived and worked between Moscow and the United States, exhibiting her work in Russia, Europe and North America. She won the Kandinsky Prize in 2013 for her project, Without A Title. At the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015, Nakhova became the first woman to have a solo exhibit in the Russian Pavilion, with the installation The Green Pavilion.
